" Clinton and Obama are interchangeable as far as which one you vote for—one will be the Vice President for the other—both will keep our troops in the Middle East--forever. Obama’s own television ad says that he will win the war and get our troops home as soon as possible—same as Bush. This is an un-winnable war. Then there’s Mr. Amnesty and open borders McCain who is more like Clinton and Obama than any conservative. He worked with Feingold to diminish our first amendment rights; he has a proven voting record against any effort to bring home our MIAs—more veterans and military personal were voting for Ron Paul who actually has taken time out to get help for veterans in our dismal VA hospitals. Then, there’s poor Romney, who wasn’t an insider. His money couldn’t buy his way into the club—Romney didn’t understand that you have to sell your soul to join their club, and he couldn’t take the last step--like Obama, Clinton, Huckabee, and McCain have. Yes, Huckabee, who makes Bill Clinton (Mr. finger pointer) look like Mr. Conservative on the policies that he’s enacted in Arkansas, as, being a “Christian”, he was brought into the election process to take away Romney votes. And then there’s the general population (sheeple) who haven’t figured out yet that almost anyone can be bought (Ron Paul can’t be, I’m not sure about Romney yet) and that the same insiders control both parties. It’s left, right, left, right into absolute regulation of society. Then again, my guess is that when the barcodes start getting stamped on the foreheads, most people will gladly comply, as the media will continue to tell them they are free—and after all the media wouldn’t lead them astray. "

" I kept track of all the political and robo-calls, and voted against every one of them for their invasive annoying phone calls. My phone has been going nuts for a week. Prop "L" was the worst, with 5 calls in 5 days...!!! I'm glad to see them burned. "

" The biggest primary news is how poorly Clinton is doing nationally. She is still in a long slog with Barrack Obama whose small donor fundraising is visibly stronger. It may very well be an Obama vs McCain race in November. If it is, you can bet that one political photo that is going to get lots of play is the infamous "McCain hugs his Daddy" photo. The Republican base may still have their Bush shrines up, but the rest of America just can't wait to see the last of Mr. Bungle and his clowns. In 2000, the Republicans gleefully hung Bill Clinton sexual peccadilloes around Gore's neck. In 2008, having the Bush albatross hung around McCain's neck seems only fair! Not to mention that NVR's very own "kevin" is threatening to vote for Hillary if McCain wins. Where's all the fervent 'Support the Troops' ardor when a real Republican veteran and war hero needs it, eh? What fun... offering up for 're-consumption' all of the bilge-pump output of the past SEVEN years. "Bill Clinton lied about his Golf Score" is not going to cut it this year! ~Ruff "

" My, my Napa county. We turned down the Indian gaming! I tnink that is so wonderful even though I am still disgusted it passed I am proud of my fellow Napans. I personally feel gambling is a disease just as bad as drug abuse or overeating, et al. Preventable if we just take control of our lives and make the decision to do what is right and moral. Thanks to my daddys gambling I got to wear shoes with holes in em' and actally took plain catsup or mayo sandwiches to school more than I care to remember. That does make it personal but we all know in our hearts that gambling is not a good thing. There must be something more worthwhile our native brothers can come up with. I seriously doubt the 'great spirit' would approve. I personally voted no becaue I wanted no part of any ill gotten funds for any project. Remember that it was, and is organized crime that promote most gambling endeavors. Lets keep up the fight against gambling just as we should against all immorality. "

" Napa Valley College's Bond measurte (L) got what it deserved, defeat. It was a dishonest attempt at misleading the taxpayer. The Board of Trustees padded what may have syarted out as good intent, with pork and waste. This Board should be looking over it's shoulder as the need for a more forthright group to lead the school is in order.
To the NVC students who replied to this article, take a look at your parents Property Tax bill from the County and know that your bill will be higher. It's always only about the money. "

Sandra wrote on Feb 7, 2008 10:53 AM:

" to napanative53, sorry about your dad, but you cannot legislate morals or responsibility. There are responsible gamblers. I am a poker player, and do not play to lose money, but because I like the strategy. There are many responsible gamblers, and because of your childhood you think you need to regulate us all? I have never lost money needed for the running of my household, and my children never have gone without. It is possible to gamble responsibly. There is nothing imoral about gambling, unless you feel it is against your religious beliefs, and that should be decided on an individual basis. Put your energy where it will do some good. The state needs the money, and this will hopefully help. It has certainly helped the indian tribes, which have been treated so unfairly during most of our history. In my opinion, overall, this election turned out pretty well. "
