Silverado Trail was blocked by two mudslides near St. Helena Sunday afternoon and late Sunday night.

The first occurred on the Trail near Pratt Avenue at about 3 p.m.
Traffic was diverted at Deer Park Road and Pope Street. The road reopened at about 5 p.m., after county crews cleaned up the slide.

The second landslide occurred near Bale Lane at about 12:30 a.m., causing the road to be closed until about 5 a.m. Monday.

" Thank goodness that no one was driving by at the time of these slides. The one on Pratt would have really hurt someone as the slide consisted of not just mud, but BIG pieces of rock that came of the mountain. If the city doesn't do something about that side of the mountain, expect more slides. "

" Especially after the recent slide. That will uncover other weak fractures. I think that is a county responsibility, tho, not a city one. It is a county maintained road.

Dianne, this is a road YOU use too :-) "
