From First Love to Seduction, romantic wines are appearing in February

As Valentine’s Day draws near, wine brands with romantic names begin to make an appearance.

O’Brien Estate in Napa Valley has made Seduction, a Bordeaux-style blend, for several years, and this year, in addition to the 2005 Seduction, is releasing 2003 Romance of the Heart, also a Bordeaux-style blend, and 2006 Flirtation rosé, based on merlot. All are included in packaging that carries out the romantic theme.
O’Brien also is offering a Valentine’s Day special including a bottle of 2005 Seduction, two hand-blown wine glasses and two boxes of chocolate.

Signature Wines & Beverages, a direct-to-consumer wine merchant, is offering personalized labels from a number of prestigious wineries, and Valentine’s day wines will come in sheer red organza gift bags.
From Italy comes a pair of romantic wines — Primo Amore Romeo and Juliet, a red and white wine, respectively. Primo Amore means “first love” in Italian, and the winery said the wines are named for what may be the most famous case of first love in history.

Also from Italy comes Mondoro Asti sparkling wine, and the information about the wine is accompanied by recipes for treats to accompany the wine, including chocolate-kissed strawberries, Italian anise cookies and a Mondoro martini, which includes the sparkling wine, pink lemonade and cherry juice.
And to follow that romantic Valentine’s Day dinner, there’s a pomegranate dessert wine from Rimon Winery in Israel. Why pomegranate? The winery said the pomegranate is a known aphrodisiac and symbol of temptation and pleasure. It’s not a flavored alcohol, but is wine made from juice that has been fermented, then aged in French oak barrels.
