Local students winners of essay contest

CommentNapa County elementary school students recently won numerous awards at the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) American History essay contest. The theme of this year’s writing competition was “I Spy: Espionage during the Revolutionary War.”
The winners from local schools included: First Place, fifth grade, Justin Tooker, Yountville Elementary School, Yountville; Second Place, fifth grade, Kate Wessell, St. John’s Catholic School, Napa; First Place, seventh grade, Liam J. Vlaming, St. John’s Catholic School, Napa; Second Place, seventh grade, Christopher Jordan, St. John’s Catholic School, Napa; Third Place, seventh grade, Stevie Gragg, St. John’s Catholic School, Napa; and First Place, eighth grade, Annabelle Huffman, St. John’s Catholic School, Napa.

Napa County high school seniors also participated in a D.A.R. Good Citizen award essay contest. Taking first place was Cara Elizabeth Miraglio of St. Helena High School. Other participants from Napa County included Lindsay Marie Kroyer of Napa High School, and Kathleen A. Stewart of Vintage High School./Register
