" I am completely AGAINST this measure. The college and NVUSD has too large a slice of the pie which is funded by property owners. The bond is just another example of poor planning, bad budgeting and greed. If the college wants more funding, then raise fees, raise unit costs, etc. It's time for the mostly adult student populace to pay for this after hours entertainment called education. Most students are there for fun or as a pass time and not seriously seeking an education which leads to gainful employment....let them pay a fee. Napa's homeowners are not all students nor do they have students in the family...so why are homeowners constantly expected to foot this bill. Make it general obligation, sales or fee generated funding...leave homeowners out of it for once "

" Why anyone would support this Measure is beyond me. The college already blew through the $133.8 million approved by voters in 2002 through their mismanagement. They now need another $115 million just to finish that project! How stupid do they think the voters are? No on L! "

" This question is for Napa Valley College. Why are you building a theater arts center before a technology center and before a very needed student services center? Why is the student services center only going to be built if you get this new bond past? The college has very dated technology and too few classrooms with computers. You don't see the technology building as important as performing arts? Do you not see the need for improved student services facilities to be as great as performing arts? You say that students are always first but so many of us just don't see it. The student bathrooms are filthy all of the time. Read my blog comment in yesterdays letter on Measure L for more details. Convince me to vote for this measure, not with sweet, flowery political talk but with hard facts and with real need. "

" $300 million could have fixed the entire roads in Napa for a decade, paid for health insurance for every child in Napa, hired twenty new police officers, provided water to the groundwater deficient MST area, etc, etc. One of the items on their list was $7 million for new turf for an athletic field, and $808,000 for one bathroom! And all that money is just for improvements and upgrades. You should be able to build a whole new college for that and more. Plus once they get all these buildings built, where is the money going to come from to operate it? Will we have brand new buildings setting empty because the state is running huge deficits and can't afford to operate it? Bad timing here to say the least. Un, I think not. "

" Concerned Citizen, Do not say most are there for fun or to pass time. It may be after hours entertainment to you, but I believe most would disagree. I haven't seen my wife for a full week at night in a year. Entertainment? "

" Giving money to the college now would be totally foolhardy, as they have already proven that they are not to be trusted in using the funds for legitimate need. If they DO really need money, that's a shame, since they won't fool Napans twice. "
