He is for less big government/more state level government and against the war. He is completely consistent in his voting records. PLEASE check out this candidate, people! "

" Hmmm, as I post this comment, Fred Thompson is dead last in the current NVR Poll voting with 10 votes and 9% of the total votes cast. John McCain (the LIBRUL per our 'conservative' commenting friends) is first with 33 votes and 29% to the total votes cast. Even 'Ron Paul' who is prospering in spite of all the name-calling done by self-styled 'conservatives' is beating Fred Thompson. -- Quite a conundrum for NVR's self-styled 'conservative' posters, eh? -- It would seem that NVR poll voters aren't going for the 'conservative' schtick anymore. -- Since national polling shows the only Republican candidate who doesn't loose badly to EVERY Democratic candidate is John McCain the NVR poll folks are signaling that the old Karl Rove inspired Neo-Con KoolAide has lost it's mojo. -- And I note that the self-styled 'conservative' commenters on the last Democratic poll ranked far lower on the media's highly-treasured 'Civility Scale' than LIBRUL commenters on this Republican poll. -- Even though this NVR poll is 'young', we know the moderator is watching to protect 'conservative' sensibilities from those uppity LIBRULZ, so we know that the 'Civility X-Prize' goes to LIBRULZ as well. ;o) This Sunday marks the first quack of the Bushite lame-ducks! ~Ruff "

When only Republicans can vote, McCain doesn't do nearly as well (as evidenced by the recent Michigan election). " Don't fret, 'conservatives'... my feelings aren't hurt! ;o) I smile more every day! Anything said by, for example, a self-styled 'conservative' who writes here on NVR that they are happy Bush is keeping poor children from getting government-paid healthcare while admitting, also on the NVR, that they personally have government-paid healthcare is just plain PRICELESS! It's interesting the Michigan primaries, Willard 'Mitt' Romney's dad was a three term governor in Michigan. A Moderate Republican the likes of which the Bushite Republicans ran out of the Republican Party a decade ago. Republicans are having big trouble raising money this year, and the Republican primary wars are causing the candidates to pick and chose the states they will invest scarce campaign funds. Even the LIBRUL DailyKos website was hoping Willard 'Mitt' Romney would win in Michigan! And, strangely, 'conservatives' have written that they don't like Willard 'Mitt' Romney either because he was also 'TOO LIBERAL'. So it looks like Willard 'Mitt' Romney is going to dump $75 to $100 million in his race to NOT be nominated for the Republican candidate and drops out after Super-Tuesday. That's just gotta break hearts on the Democratic Party side, you know? Self-styled 'conservatives' may not realize it, but desperate repetition of what Bushite Republicans and their enablers call 'facts' but are actually old recycled Republican slanders, actually work to the build the disgust that such speech deserves. The more mean-spirited, ugly and illogical 'conservative' attacks are, the better those LIBRULZ you express so much distain for will do this time! Ummm, what was the latest? Yeah, "envirowhackos"! Not nearly as zippy as "eco-Fascists", but definitely good old-fashioned 'liberal-baiting' fun! Don't ever stop, 'conservatives'! That WOULD be a very BLUE day for me. :o) ~Ruff "

" "AmCan Mom", if you weren't there yourself, you'd be glad to know that a fair-sized crowd of Ron Paul supporters were at the Napa Valley Opera House yesterday, Jan 16th to hold up Ron Paul Signs! They were polite, had some nice signs and I took pictures of them, and I took one of their handouts. But, sadly... they told me that Ron Paul will not run outside the Republican Party and... the conservatives in the Republican Party hate Ron Paul worst of all. You can read their opiinon of him right here in the NVR. Remember how hard FAUX NOISE tried to kick him out of the Republican debates last week even though he raises raises money better, polls better and gets more votes than Fred Thompson? So the 'conservatives' are determined to lead the Republican Party over the cliff this year. America is in real trouble now and needs our help. If Ron Paul doesn't run... vote for the best person you can pick... but VOTE! America needs the owners, "We the People..." to tell the politicians, consultants, spokesliars, and especially the money-grubbing media that we are still the boss! Please note that I did not try to pick somebody for you, and I don't care if you pick somebody I would not, VOTE ANYWAY! I served in the military when I was younger and my daddy before that, just so "We, the People..." could always tell politicians that WE ARE STILL THE BOSS! ~Ruff "

I know he'll never get the RNC backing but he is also one who makes the RNC look to be what it is. A power broker rather than a seeker of good government. McCain and Thompson have made too many errors in judgment and right now flawless decision makers are what we need to help this great nation get back on track. "

" The number one function of the federal government is to protect the country and its citizens. Its too bad Ron Paul is a 9/11 "denier" and does not takes seriously the Islamofascist threat. He wants to wait until we are attacked again, then send the police after them. Sorry, that is not acceptable in today's environment of biological, chemical and nuclear WMD's... "

" What does Iraq have to do with 9/11? Osama bin Laden is still free, yet 4000 more Americans have died since 9/11 and three times that number have returned home maimed? We borrow money from China and give it to Musharraf (a dictator) who then will not allow our troops into the part of Pakistan where bin Laden is most likely hiding! Our military (at least my neighbors here at Travis) is becoming de-moralized and recruiters are having a tough time meeting their quotas. Should we return to the draft to protect us from all those WMD's in Iraq? What if instead of chasing phantom WMD's all over the world, we bring our troops home to protect our borders and see to it that terrorists never get in?
I am a conservative Republican and I am voting for Ron Paul. Ron Paul was right that we should go after Osama in Afghanistan and he was right that we should not invade Iraq. None of the other candidates even come close touching him fiscally and staying the course in Iraq just doesn't make sense, even if the surge is "working." I voted for Bush parlty because of his "no nation building" talk-- thank goodness Ron Paul actually means it! "

Hopefully saner, smarter, practical people will take back their Republican Party, so independents like me could vote for Republicans again. I welcome Ron Paul's dedication to the US Constitution and Bill of Rights and I distain all of the Bushite Republicans undermining of everything America stands for to 'save us' from Iraq instead of finishing the job with the guys that actually attacked the USA on 9-11. Who made the Bush a king instead of a president? Who asked Bush to authorize torture? Who asked Bush to build Gitmo and a gulag actually using Soviet prisons? Why did Bush tap every phone, email and internet connection in America BEFORE 9-11? I can respect someone like Ron Paul who would put an end to all this unconstitutional idiocy. The Bushite Republicans are long overdue to answer to the American people for their arrogance, bungling and corruption. ~Ruff "

" Kevin, the primary function of the Federal Government is to protect the rights of the citizens. The promise of security, if it means relinquishing any one of our rights, is a mechanism for tyranny by government.

The United States government kept Hussein in power, and supplied him with the chemical weapons he used on his own people--look up Dr. Doug Rokke, who was commanding the men responsible for removing depleted uranium from the tanks (most of which are dead or now have cancer), who claims the military destroyed the WMDs at the end of the first Iraq War.

Most of the terrorists on 9/11, and most of the terrorists in Iraq today, came from Saudi Arabia, yet Saudi Arabia is our friend, and Iran is our enemy.

This is a war to create an economic union in the Middle East, which is why we’ve created a military complex the size of the Vatican in Iraq. “Global Straight Jacket” written in 1999 by Joan Veon, a free lance UN reporter, who has interviewed top officials from around the world, predicted this war in her book. Veon has her own website.

Many journalists have written about Middle Eastern terrorist involvement in the Oklahoma City bombing (the terrorists coming here when Bush 1 let 10,000 Iraqis into our country after the first Gulf War), and how top officials in the FBI hid this information from the public—Patrick Briley, a navy veteran, who spent years researching this, has written about these terrorists that remain hidden from public view.

I don’t know how much of this war Ron Paul understands, but his stance on ending the war, and bringing our bravest men and women home to protect this country, is right on.

" Working and going to school full time here in the Napa Valley, the one thing that will decide my vote more than anything this year will be my wallet. Working in the hospitality industry tips provide a substantial portion of my income, and seeing that good portion of income being taken out of my paycheck each week can be very frustrating at times. Why should I have to Tip the government every time I get tipped? I’m just trying to work hard and pay my way through college; I already don’t qualify for student aid because my parents apparently make too much, why should I be taxed on something that was given to me, and that I’m using to put myself through college with? It’s a hard uphill battle for me. The only presidential candidate that recognizes how important tips are to the people who rely on them is… Ron Paul.

I’m not just fan of Ron Paul because of his stance on being able to keep tips. I’m a fan of Ron Paul because of his dedication to this country, the constitution, and his entire message of freedom, prosperity and peace. I especially like his foreign policy of non-intervention (staying out of the internal affairs of other countries), and his firm understanding of monetary policy and the true causes of inflation. I believe that if everyone in this country would take the time to hear his message and educate themselves better, we’d be headed in a different direction as a nation, one for the better. His message isn’t one that can be easily delivered in a 30 second sound bite or a quick snippet on TV; it’s one that is well formed and takes time to deliver, but most of all, it makes complete sense. "look up Dr. Doug Rokke, who was commanding the men responsible for removing depleted uranium from the tanks (most of which are dead or now have cancer), who claims the military destroyed the WMDs at the end of the first Iraq War."

Douglas Lind Rokke, Doctor of Vocational Education, Major, United States Army Reserve (retired) - did not command the men who decontaminated armored vehicles hit by friendly fire DU kinetic energy penetrator munitions. He was attached to that team. Neither he nor any of the other 29 members of the team got sick or died due to exposure to DU. Rokke had nothing to do with the destruction of the Iraqi WMDs. He also knows nothing about anyone who he served with who is sick or dying of cancer. He is a total fraud. He claims to be a "warrior", but was safe in the Riyadh, Saudi Arabia HQ throughout the war. He has even claimed to be a disabled combat veteran. Those of you who are disabled combat veterans, and I salute your service and I expect that you do not like phonies who claim to be disabled combat veterans. Based upon what I have seen in the debates, Ron Paul is just too much of a wing-nut. I appreciate his comments on the constitution, and the fact that we really need to get back to basing law on that document. However, Mr. Paul has a tendency to go off on a tangent. That is especially dangerous in time of war. McCain has the real front line experience to know what it means to put young men and women in harm’s way. He knows the consequences better than any other. Mr. Huckabee has the overall moral integrity, and this is why he is my first choice for the presidency. If the race boils down to Romney versus Clinton, I will still go GOP. But if it is Romney versus Obama, I will probably back Obama. "

The recession is kicking in full-force today and Dr. Paul has repeatedly been forecasting this to an agonizing degree. Among our presidential contenders only Ron Paul has studied, written and spoken about US and international monetary policy for 40-some years. He sits on congressional oversight committees on the economy, finances and monetary policy.

As we head into a Fed-created recession,Paul alone among the surviving candidates is qualified to comment authoritatively on the problem, and the financial/market show commentators all know this. It would be ludicrous for them to host Romney or Hillary when they could have Paul as a guest.

Representative Paul serves on three Congressional committees:
* Committee on Financial Services
_Ranking Member - Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade and Technology
_ Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigation

* Committee on Foreign Affairs
_Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight
_Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere

* Joint Economic Committee
