Prep Report: Streett’s 35 lead Trinity in a thriller
From Register Staff
Dan Streett scored 35 points, hitting three 3-point baskets, to lead the Trinity Prep boys basketball team to a 72-68 double-overtime win Tuesday night over North Hills Christian-Vallejo in the Northern Pacific Athletic Conference opener at the First Baptist Church gymnasium.
Streett also had 14 rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Crusaders (7-7 overall, 1-0 NPAC), who were tied with North Hills 58-58 at the end of regulation and 65-65 at the end of the first overtime. Officials waved off what would have been the winning basket by Streett from beyond the half-court line, saying the buzzer had already gone off.
Dan Cravalho had 21 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, Phil Maxson had seven rebounds and six steals, Sean Ryan had six points, and Peter Kersting played well for Trinity.
“They really played hard,” said coach John Streett. “That’s what I’m so gratified to see.”
John Streett called it one of the three best wins he’s had in four years with the Crusaders, who were behind by seven points in the fourth quarter. Two free throws by Dan Streett with two seconds left in regulation tied it and sent the game into overtime.
Cravalho had five points in the first overtime and Dan Streett scored five points in the second OT.

Tuesday’s battle between first-place MCAL teams was dominated by the Braves, who grabbed a 7-0 lead and padded it to 30-12 by halftime.

“I was really impressed with our team’s focus throughout the game. It was fun to watch.”
