CommentThe Napa County Regional Occupational Program (ROP), operating under the Napa County Office of Education, is pleased to announce the graduates of the fall 2007 ROP Nurse Assistant Training Program.

The students celebrated the completion of the program with a graduation ceremony held in the Napa High School Lecture Hall on Dec. 11, 2007. Class instructor Leauretta Boulding, LVN, welcomed the families, friends and supporters in attendance, and expressed her pride in the work the graduates had done with patients during their training. Tony Apolloni, deputy superintendent of schools, Napa County Office of Education, addressed the graduates on the importance of the work they will do once they begin working as certified nurse assistants. A moving keynote speech was delivered to the graduates by Rosanne Hallowell, LVN/MDS, Piner’s Nursing Home.
A scholarship fund for the graduates is supported by student fundraising. The scholarships support continued education in the health care field. Starr Piner of Piner’s Nursing Home presented the scholarships. Graduate Hilary Mertaugh was awarded a $300 scholarship, and Samantha M. Gainer and Darcy D. Nelson were both awarded a $150 scholarship.

Diaz, Shannon Ellis, Samantha Gainer, Christine Gonzales, Elisa Harris Angelica Haro, Colin Legg, Maria Lopez, Katie McGlothern, Elizabeth Mendoza, Teresa Mendoza, Hilary Mertaugh, Darcy Nelson, Jocelyn Pallo, Sonia Perez, Andrea Ruybal, Emilia Gabriela Saldivar, Arlene Sanchez, Yubia Sanchez, Tarah Thompson and Sheria Vayder.
The ROP Nurse Assistant Training Program is offered in partnership with Napa High School, and classes are held on the campus. The program provides teen and adult students with academic and clinical training in preparation for state certification, and advanced training in the health care field.
