Free crapemyrtles for new members
The Arbor Day Foundation is sending five free crapemyrtle trees to California residents who become members in January 2008.
The free trees are part of the nonprofit Foundation’s Trees for America campaign.
“Crapemyrtles were selected for this campaign because of their elegant color and form, making them an attractive addition to the home landscape in California,” said John Rosenow, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation.
“These small flowering trees boast perfect, six-petaled flowers of pink and red, with leaves that change from summer green to autumn red, orange, and yellow.”
The trees will be shipped postpaid at the right time for planting between Feb. 1 and April 30 with enclosed planting instructions. The 6 to 12 inch trees are guaranteed to grow, or they will be replaced free of charge.
Members also receive a subscription to the Foundation’s colorful bimonthly publication, Arbor Day, and The Tree Book, which includes information about tree planting and care.
To receive the free trees, send a $10 membership contribution to Five Crepemytles, Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, NE 68410, by Jan. 31. /Register
