MBFA Gallery shows works by Vintage High students
By ERIN DOUGLAS
Special to the Register
The MBFA Gallery in Napa is highlighting the talent of 33 Vintage High School art students and providing the young artists with insight into the culture of the professional gallery world.
The featured students are embarking on their second to fourth year of artistic study at Vintage, under the direction of art teacher Christine Golick. While pursuing a range of experiences, including drawing from life, discerning the intricacies of color and composing in styles of historical masters, the students have initiated the ceaseless development of their own meaningful styles.
The 48 works at the gallery invoke an array of styles from classical to pop, and were created in a variety of media: charcoal, oil, paper, canvass — vision to realization.
The endurance of youthful spirit and the intellectual curiosity of eager, straining minds is manifest in this art. These works serve as a tribute to the timeless, ubiquitous pursuit of extracting beauty from the ordinary, vitality from the weary and fulfillment from life.
Erin Douglas, a senior at Vintage High School, is one of the artists participating in the MBFA show.
