A trip to Home Depot in Napa landed a Vallejo man in jail Friday.

The Napa Police Department arrested Steven Allen Johnson, 24, on suspicion of petty theft and drug possession. Police said that Johnson walked into Home Depot at 12:30 p.m., and put several display items under his arm. When he attempted to leave the store without paying for the items, store security detained him.
Police arrived on the scene and arrested Johnson on suspicion of petty theft. During a search of Johnson, police discovered a bundle of ecstasy on him.

" Why do people steal or attempt to steal? If you cannot pay for something, you could work so you can pay for it or simply talk to someone in the store and maybe they can work something out for you. There are harsher consequences for stealing than for just asking. "
