 The Napa Valley Register publishes monthly statistics on arrests and convictions for driving under the influence — and so-called “wet reckless” convictions — in Napa County. Statistics are published in print the first Monday of each month and online when they become available.

Crash causes widespread power outages

A solo-vehicle traffic wreck caused widespread power outages in the north Napa area Friday night. The Napa Police Department said alcohol was a factor in the wreck. As of Saturday afternoon 330 homes were still without power.

Some jail inmates released by mistake return, but not all

A total of six Napa County jail inmates have turned themselves in after they were released by mistake earlier this week, with six more out of the 25 expected to come back by late Saturday, according to Napa County Department of Corrections officials.

County mistake: 25 jail inmates released early

Twenty-five Napa County jail inmates were cut loose early on Wednesday because of a mistake by their jailers.

For the Record

A front page story on Jan. 12 about inmates being released early from the Napa County jail mispelled the name of the director of the Napa County Department of Corrections. Her name is Julie Hutchens. The same article stated that all of the inmates had between five days and a month to serve on their sentences. One inmate had 44 days to serve.
