January is Classic Comedy Month at Copia. Friday Night Flicks begin on Jan 11 with “Some Like It Hot,” the 1959 classic starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. When Chicago musicians Joe ( Curtis) and Jerry (Lemmon) witness a gangland shooting, they quickly board a southbound train disguised as Josephine and Daphne, the two newest and homeliest members of an all-girl jazz band. Their cover is perfect until a singer (Monroe) falls for Josephine, an aging playboy falls for Daphne, and the mob  picks up their trail. The night includes as  special “live” appearance with Diana Dawn as Marilyn Monroe in the Copia theater at 8 p.m..

Friday Night Flick tickets are $7 general admission, and $6 for Copia members. A complimentary wine tasting takes place at each film from 7:15- 8 p.m.
Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. it’s “Bringing Up Baby” Howard Hawks’ 1938 classic screwball comedy about a straight-laced paleontologist (Cary Grant) who loses a dinosaur bone to a dog belonging to free-spirited heiress Katharine Hepburn. Grant and Hepburn are a match made in movie heaven, in sync with each other throughout.

Jan. 25 8 p.m. brings  the outrageous genius of the Marx Brothers to the Copia screen in “A Night at the Opera” (1935) a tale of high society, matchmaking and chaos where the Marx Brothers try to bring two young lovers together and sabotage an opera performance even as they try to pass themselves off as stuffed shirts. This film includes the classic sequence where Groucho piles as many people as possible into a ship's stateroom.
January also brings three Community Spotlight concerts to Copia beginning Jan. 19 with a performance by California Zephyr, which returns to with a new show featuring their distinctive blend of American music. Known for sweet harmonies, rockin’ rave-ups, funky yodeling and fiery pickin’, Zephyr also delivers a program filled with exceptional original songs. The program includes favorites as well as new material from the upcoming release “Mountains of Light” and their current CD “Harvest Time/Songs from the Napa Valley.” Pre-concert wine tasting courtesy of Peju Province Winery 7:15-8 p.m. The music starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20; $18 for Copia members.
