For the last several weeks, Register readers have been calling, writing and e-mailing their nominations for the homes with the most festive holiday displays.

With Santa's reindeer perhaps in flight even as you read this, our list for this year is final. Thanks for all your suggestions, and a bigger thanks to all those who give the rest us something to smile about by dressing up their homes.

Meanwhile, we are faced with the uncharitable task of choosing only one home among the many as the winner of this year's contest. Our choice: 1122 Monticello Road.

A festive oasis awaits Napans who are up for a drive to the outskirts of town, on Monticello between Silverado Trail and Atlas Peak. Illuminated globes that dot the perimeter of the property have been transformed into snowmen sporting top hats. Wreaths peek out from the windows of an illuminated water tower. The home's expansive, multi-colored Christmas display is fortified by hundreds of bulbs, maybe more.

" It wasn't just several houses on Paradise Lane, it was EVERY SINGLE HOUSE!! How awsome! Thanks to all the families on that street. "

" There was also a house in Browns Valley area that was just amazing too! It too was better than the house on Monticello. Everything in the yard was animated. An Elf riding a bike, a polar bear fishing in a frozen lake and you saw the fish come out of the water on the fishing pole. They had a barn with elves and Mrs. Clause moving about making toys, a big clock with the toy soldiers in front of it, santa and all his reindeer on the roof taking off with a sleigh full of toys. This was a beautiful scene with a lot of time invested in it. Thankyou for sharing with all of us. "

" The house on Monticello is there every year, sure it looks nice, but there were alot better houses this year than that one! One of the houses had a real santa on Dec 23. not to mention they displayed there front windows like at the mall with disney characters and falling snow. They put lights on the entire house, grass, driveway, PLUSSSSSS.... all the lights (which there were more than 100) were blinking to the music they had playing. All this and more, it was really amazing!! The house on Monticello is nice but there were better, and they should not have won the contest but maybe it was rigged. I wouldn't doubt it. But thanks to everyone who decorated and shared with us the beautiful lights. There were alot of amazing houses! So Thankyou. "

" any chance they were all low energy bulbs!? Come on folks....so much wasted energy from lights to air blowers inflating santa and frosty! Now here's an opening for some effective energy legislation! Or why not solar powered holiday decorations....joy to the world! "
