" Vintage has won 2 section Championships...but it takes nothing away from Napa's history making season. "

" This is the biggest win in Napa County sports history. With the explosion in CA population has come an explosion in the talent pool that has never before been seen in the history of our state. In addition, programs are more skill-intensive and specialized than in previous decades. The 2007 Napa High football team participated and excelled within this new environment. They have established a level of excellence that future programs should try and emulate. "

" Justin-Siena baseball team in 2005 went 27-0 for there 3rd consecutive section championship. That season is the best in the history of the Napa Valley. No one can argue with that. That does not take away anything from what Napa high football did but it is not the biggest win in Napa county sports history. "

" It was the biggest win for Napa High since it joined the MEL conference. However to say it was the biggest win in Napa County sports history diminishes the great victories of prior teams from other schools, as well as victories obtained in other sports by any school. Football is not the end all. "

" …there have been many incredible sports events and accomplishments here in Napa over the decades…the domination of Napa High Track teams in the 1960s and in the 1970s Vintage’s when coach Williams switched schools will likely never again be accomplished this was against State and National Track and Field Powers. Napa High record of consecutive duel meet victories, I believe, is still a state record, if not national. Napa High, I think I recall, Henry, Calvert, Barnicoat and maybe Humpert or Wiley setting the Nation Record for the 4x800 relay and holding it for a couple of decades…Vintage High Class of 1980 Football went undefeated and Crushed ‘Valley High’ in the section title with the first and only pair of 1,000 yard rushers with a young coach by the name of Herlocker calling the offense…they did it again in 1986 blowing the opposing team off the field being the only MEL to win a section until last year. Back then Vintage was playing up a school size level if not two levels. St. Helena High still holds the State Record for consecutive FB wins for small schools, and large until De Salle took it away…How about Sherman Miller in the late 40s? Still holds some school records made the Olympic Team, Henry and Calvert nationally ranked sprinters, each holding the top spot in the same year? There have been many accomplishments and the Napa High Football Section Championship deserves to be counted among them no doubt about it…. "

" From post-season 1959 to October 1965, St. Helena High School's Football team never lost a game. 52 wins, 1 tie. "

" Why is everything always about Napa High?? Although yes it has been here the longest, it is Not always about them. For instance - Vintage High Robotics Team won the 2000 National Championship, over 700 teams competed. This is a program that NASA and MIT (the college) promotes. The team was on every news channel, Including ESPN!!! But it made the paper in a little tiny, tiny clip. However, when Napa High won the cheerleading championship they made the front page. I think that the register forgets that there are LOTS of other schools in the valley not just Napa High. Get a clue "

" Not by any stretch. Ya, they won, but are they the only team to win a championship? Please get real with your questions and quit putting Napa High on a pedestal. "

" Section champs are always good. But VINTAGE won two in the 80s and was practically the team of the 80s... "

" Why can't you all just be happy for the kids on the Napa football team that worked so hard to get to that Championship. Great job Napa High! "

" ~napagirl1960 I have to agree that the 2000 Robotics Competition was a lot bigger feat than a football game. The leaders of the world are in one competition while the gas pumpers are in another. I was at the 2000 Robotics Competition in Orlando, FL. Napa Pipe competed against the likes of Ford, Bentley, Aston Martin, NASA, and other huge engineering powerhouses. Yet all I saw was a little article and a few quotes here and there. Truth be told the average American does not care reading about a bunch of nerds building robots. They want to hear about football, which is sad. Considering the people on the robotics team will probably end up being someones boss or contribute to society in more ways than one. Hey look I can throw a football or hey I can program a robot in like C++ or Java using stat of the art robotics electronics. I know who I would want working for me. "

" I just wanted to congratulate Napa High on a successful year. Mott and crew are doing a fantastic job. No one has mentioned Justin Siena winning multiple section championships in the recent past. I am sure there are many accomplishments by people in Napa, yet the section win by Napa is the most recent victory for our little town. Great job Indians! "

" Ferrari, that was a low blow. You cant say that these guys are gonna be gas pumpers. Sheesh, you might be smarter than many of the football players on paper but when it comes to life knowledge you are seriously lacking. You cant blame the kids that played their guts out for the newspapers lack of a story on the robot challenge. Have a lil tact why dont you. Congrats Napa High !!! "
