A Napa man and a woman spent the night in jail Friday after police said they were hanging out in front of Mervyn’s in violation of the man’s conditions of probation.

Eric Mikiska, 19, and Mary Pieper, 25, were loitering on the east side Mervyn’s in violation of Mikiska’s probation orders not to hang out in the area, according to police. Mervyn’s security called police to have Mikiska removed from the area.
Police arrested Mikiska on suspicion of violation of probation; police reports show that Pieper began interfering with police as they arrested Mikiska. Officers also arrested Pieper on suspicion of interfering with a peace officer after repeated attempts to get her to stop, police said.

" Great news!!! Maybe we could lock up all the kids that hang out at the east side of Mervyn's, at least this is a start. Thank you Napa Police. "

" Really, Rational? Great news? I take it you have never taken the time to get to know any of those youths' stories. I think all crime should be handled justly, but blanket statements about "locking up all the kids" shows an uncaring and "not my problem" attitude that I pray is not what true Napans are about. "

" Surprise, surprise! And yet another great headline from the Napa Register. Sorry Mervyn's. We know that this negative connotation has nothing to do with your department store. "

" South Napa, maybe we should ask them if we could build them a roller skating rink, build them a club house or maybe a new skate park. Please, they are a bunch of thugs and punks that should be run out of town along with their absentee parents. "

" Unless they are shopping they should not be there. It's not a public park. Thanks Napa PD. Glad to see the town getting cleaned up. Mikiska was on probation. I may be a Democrat but the city needs to send a message for the rest of us who live here and want to walk the streets safely. Good job. "

" I don't care about their stories. There is no reason for them to be hanging around behind mervyns. Most of them should be in school, and the others should be working. They're lucky I'm not working for Napa PD because arresting them would be my hobby. "

" The headline for this article shouldn't be " Go to Mervyn's, get busted". It makes it sound like if anybody goes to Mervyn's they'll be in trouble. It should say Man goes to Mervyn's, gets busted. "

" I posted a comment Sunday monring, but since I had the gall to suggest the author go get a job with the National Enquirere, it was not posted. I wonder if THIS one WILL. Just so you know, your comments are being censored. So much for diversity of opinion and the voice of the people, eh? How about at LEAST a comment by the author here?! THAT would be a first... "
