The return of the Follies du Valle - Don't quit your day job
Follies du Valle or “Don’t Quit Your Day Job” — the zany musical revue starring Napa Valley’s own local talent — returns to Lincoln Theater April 4, 5 and 6.
This year’s production will be a food and wine-themed production titled “Eat Your Heart Out.”
The Follies was founded in 1997. Since then hundreds of Napa Valley residents from American Canyon to Calistoga have sung, danced or worked backstage in the production that the community can truly call its own. Locally scripted, produced and directed, the Follies bursts with excitement, energy and talent.
Follies creator Elizabeth Swanson said, “It is a special opportunity to showcase local Napa Valley talent, including vocalists, dancers, actors, comedians and anyone who enjoys being on the stage!”
The show, as always, is presented at Lincoln Theater in Yountville as a fundraiser to support the theater’s program and the theater’s ongoing operations fund.
The Follies’ kick-off event and auditions take place Feb. 4 and 5, 6 -9 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater. Anyone, including children age 4 years or older, with an interest in being on stage or behind the scenes is encouraged to come.
Casting for the show depends on how much time a performer is willing to commit during the seven-week rehearsal schedule beginning Feb. 19. Participants can rehearse as little as one hour a week or as many as 12 hours per week. Rehearsals are at the Rutherford Grange.
