John Pereira
FOLSOM
John Francis Pereira, born Nov. 29, 1919, in Rodeo, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at his home in Folsom, surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Pereira, in 1968. He was the loving husband of Mary; loving father of John Dennis Pereira of Folsom, Linda Pereira-Hansen (Bill) of Sacramento, and Trisha Pereira of Folsom; and grandfather of Perry Hansen.
John graduated from John Swett High School in Crockett and from Armstrong Business College of Berkeley. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. John was self-employed and owned Tri-City Auto Supply in Rodeo and Richmond. He retired as a wine maker in the Napa Valley. He was a resident of Roseville Sun City, from 1995 until 2007, where he founded the Sun City Veterans Club, and recently moved to Folsom.
Friends and family invited to attend a vigil service on Thursday, Dec. 6, 8 p.m., and Mass of Christian burial Friday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Clare Church, 1950 Junction Blvd., Roseville. Graveside services will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2 p.m., with Military honors at Calvary Cemetery 7101 Verner Ave., Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Hospice or a charity of choice. Arrangements by Chapel of the Valley (916) 797-1448.
