A Napa man escaped serious injury after driving his vehicle into a tree along Silverado Trail early Sunday morning. Alcohol played a role in the wreck, according to the Napa Police Department.

Police reports show that Robert Madison, 20, was driving north on Silverado Trail south of Hagen Road when he lost control of his Acura and crashed into a tree on the east side of the road around 2:15 a.m.
Madison was trapped inside the car, and fire crews arrived moments later and freed him. An ambulance took Madison to Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries.

Officers arrested Madison on suspicion of being under the influence at the time of the wreck.
