Rep. Mike Thompson, D St. Helena, is hosting a live forum with Napa County residents Monday from 7-8 p.m. in the multipurpose room of Canyon Oaks Elementary School, at 475 Silver Oak Trail in American Canyon.

Thompson will discuss his legislative record and will ask participants to share their opinions and concerns on local and federal matters.

If you cannot make it to the meeting, you can still send a question to Thompson via the Register's Reader Forum. Members of Thompson's staff are going to check the Reader Forum for questions before the town hall meeting begins.

" The way that it worded, it smacks of typical liberal-Clinton Inc-type censorship at best, and a purposeful plant at worst. Why even try to ask an honest question when the forum will be biased and shaped to pander to only queries that make Thompson look good...??? "

" Dwayne. Your provide no basis for your claims. For our benefit, please back up your statements with facts. I'll do the same: Congressman Thompson was the first Vietnam veteran elected to the California State Senate. He served in combat with the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant/platoon leader with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was wounded and received a Purple Heart. He was also an instructor at the Army's Airborne School. He has been serving California's 1st Congressional District since 1998, which covers all of Napa, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties and parts of Yolo and Sonoma Counties. He is a moderate Democrat. It's my personal opinion that the man looks pretty darned good already and needs no "biased and pandering forum to make him look better. Finally, do you have a question Dwayne? That is the purpose of this page. "

" lets see, thompson went to iraq to meet with sadam, he is pelosi's lacky, and there is no such thing as a moderate democrat...he is a liberal, he was a liberal in sacramento, he has not changed. we don't hear anything about him or from him except at election time or some fundraiser. "
