10:30 a.m.A female gas station clerk is recovering from stab wounds after being attacked at work Tuesday night.
The woman was working at USA gas station at 385 Silverado Trail when a man came into the station, apparently to buy a cup of coffee. As she walked past him to reach the cashier area, the man came up to her and without provocation began stabbing her, according to Napa police.
The clerk fought back, sustaining minor stab wounds to the upper chest, a serious stab wound to the left hand and a deep laceration of one finger, police reported.
The man eventually dropped the knife and fled the gas station.
The clerk, whose name has not been released yet by police, was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment. Her wounds, police say, are not life threatening.
The suspect is described by police as a Hispanic male, 18 to 22 years old, 5 feet 5 inches, 140 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a mustache/goatee. He was wearing blue denim pants and a black hooded sweatshirt with unknown writing on the front.
The clerk told police she believes she first saw the man an hour before she was attacked when he came in and asked to use the bathroom.
