Court hearing continued for alleged shooter

The preliminary hearing for Modesto resident Willis Creech, 31, was continued from Wednesday to Nov. 16. Creech is charged with five counts of attempted murder after police say he fired a shotgun into a Dry Creek Road home on Sept. 15. Although Creech’s wife, two children and two other people were in the home at the time of the shooting, nobody was hurt.

Help support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and a local survivor

Display time for a quilt being shown at Justin-Siena High School to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has been extended. The quilt — crafted by the grandmother of a local leukemia survivor, Natalie Schiefferly — will remain at the school through Oct. 31. Napa Red Cross helps fire victims

The Napa chapter of the American Red Cross has sent 10 local volunteers to San Diego County to assist in helping the more than 500,000 victims who have been evacuated because of the multiple wildfires burning in the southern part of the state.
