River sampling lecture
The Institute for Conservation Advocacy, Research and Education presents the Napa River Watershed and Bay Delta Community Restoration, Education and Benthic Macro Invertebrate Sampling Project Oct. 15, 7 p.m., with Dr. Charley Dewberry, stream ecologist, lecturing. Trinity Open House

Trinity Grammar and Prep School holds an open house Oct. 20, 10 a.m. to noon. Trinity, now in its 13th year, is a K-12  Catholic school offering a strong classical curriculum. Justin-Siena open house

Justin-Siena High School invites the public to attend “The Future Calls Your Name,” a community open house Oct. 21, 1-3 p.m. There are tours of the 37-acre campus, departmental presentations from the talented and caring faculty, student and alumni testimonials and other activities. Family Drug hosts a free diabetes event including a lecture, “Diabetes: What you need to know,” a complimentary leg vein screening and a blood pressure screening. Refreshments are provided. Addiction class

First Presbyterian Church of Napa offers a community service class on “Addiction and the Brain,” with an emphasis on the dangers of addiction for adolescents. Pat Wolfe, a nationally-known expert on the brain, presents the class Oct. 14, 10:30 a.m. Info, 224-8693.

Cancer services

The American Cancer Society presentes “Look Good, Feel Better,” a free program at Queen of the Valley Community Outreach Oct. 15, 9:30-11 a.m., where specially-trained, licensed cosmetologists work with women to address changes due to treatment and receive free products and advice in a supportive environment. Wellness retreat

Symmetry Fitness Studios hosts a personal wellness retreat Oct. 20, 1-6 p.m., with Becca Pronchick, offering the opportunity to relax, get centered, and practice gentle yoga. Rummage sale

St. Stephen’s of Oakville holds a large rummage sale Oct. 20, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to benefit the Province seminary and other charities sponsored by the ACW chapter. Clothes, knicknacks, a large collection of books, and more is donated from the church family and their friends. Coffee and hot chocolate will be served.
