A Napa man used his sport utility vehicle to take out his frustration with his family on Thursday afternoon.
According to Andrew Risner, who lives with his mother in the 4400 block of Dumas Street, his brother Brad got irate with him and his mom when she told Brad to get out of her house.
“Brad was mad. As he left he kicked out the kitchen window. He then got into his car, rammed the garage door and busted it out. Then he drove his car onto the lawn and into the front of the house,” Risner told the Register at the scene. “He jumped out of the car and ran into the backyard. He’s been living with us since he got out of jail.”
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the driver of the SUV in the backyard, armed with a knife, said Napa Police Sgt. John Kostelac.
“He was in the swimming pool and threatening to cut his wrists and throat,” Kostelac said.
Officers armed with tasers and a weapon that shoots rubber bullets convinced the suspect to surrender a very short time later.
He was handcuffed and taken by ambulance to Queen of the Valley Medical Center to be medically checked, Kostelac said, adding the suspect is facing felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and violation of probation.
