Joe Hennessey, a Marine veteran, waves a peace flag on the Third Street Bridge for an anti-war demonstration with other Napa residents during the evening rush hour.

The demonstration was coordinated by United Napans Concerned Over Iraq Lunacy, and the nation-wide group, Moveon.org. About 65 people demonstrated with signs of protest and peace. Demonstrators read the names of American troop casualties since January and their hometowns. Lianne Milton/Register

" Moveon.org can only round up 65 protesters? Look's like the hate for bush is starting to die down after 7 years. The only question i have is if a democrat wins in 08. Will The iraq war with a "D" next to it still be wrong. Get out there and protest full funding for the flood project. "

" I am a United States Marine. This does not support troops in any way, even though these protesters say that they do want to support the troops but are anti-war. It only gives us negative publicity to look at while we are fighting. The media does not show anything but the negative side of the war. Open your eyes to what is really happening, spend your time doing something else besides waving altered US Flags and causing a distraction on a street corner. " war is not good for children and other living things. Glad this is getting media coverage, even if it is little old napa. I hate to think that the rest of the world thinks all americans support war. Hopefully US anitwar protesters get some media coverage in other coutries too. peace. "

" The newspaper gives them an article and a picture because it's the newspaper's job to report on it, regardless of anyone's personal feelings on the issue. If you don't like it, you can turn the page. Napa is a conservative little town full of folks with money, who of course are enamoured by the GOP's promises of less taxes on the high middle and upper classes; many choose to remain willfully complicit and ignorant of the party's "other" policies(war, torture, spying, "extraordinary rendition"(kidnapping), and so forth) in the name of money. Sad. "

" What person in their right mind can justify the Iraq war. Lies, deceit, and the use of fear from 9-11 have caused the country to fracture. History will be judge Bush in a harsh way. "

A Marine Rolled over in his Grave wrote on Aug 29, 2007 8:35 PM:

" I happened to be visiting the grave of my son Lance Corporal Phillip West. When his name was read by this mis-guided person, I heard a thump. It was Phillip rolling over in his grave. The idea of you saying my son's name is nausiating and appalling. Protest all you want, but leave my son's name out it! He supported this war and believed in what he was doing and the good it is doing! What have you done to help the people of Iraq? Ed West "

To Misguided Marine Dad wrote on Aug 29, 2007 10:37 PM:

" Um, we didn't read names at the protest, just date of death and where the anonymous person was from. So nice story, but a wee bit too dramatic for my tastes. "

USMC OORAH! wrote on Aug 30, 2007 9:10 AM:

" The article states that names were read. What do you think gives you the right to speak about a Fallen Marine's family member in that way? You have no right to do so. LCpl West gave his life to defend this country, and he is part of the reason i joined the Marine Corps, to do my part for this country. Do your part, and stay off the streets with your disgusting protests, they do nothing but distract people driving, and lower the morale of the city. "
