VINE free today

Almost all transit systems in the Bay Area will offer free rides today, including Napa County’s VINE, because of predicted heavy air pollution.

Today is a Spare the Air Day, the first of the summer. High temperatures and low winds create smoggy conditions.
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District will pick up the lost fare revenues of 29 transit systems, including BART and the morning runs of the Vallejo ferry.

Also offering free rides are the American Canyon Shuttle, the Yountville Shuttle and the Santa Rosa Shuttle.

" No, they will not be "free", you, me and every other tax payer will be paying for those grossly inefficient transit beaurocratic monstyrocities. Why should I be paying for someone else to commute to his or her job, on this supposed "free" day or any other? If you employer doesn't pay you enough to afford you the abilit to get to work either demand a raise, move closer to your job, or get a job closer to home. "
