In an effort to keep Napa safe, the Napa Police Department provides the following information about recent property crimes involving homes, businesses and vehicles. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods in the city. Please call 257-9223.

Property crimes in the city of Napa

Aug. 7

Rohlffs Way

Residential Burglary. 3100 block. 10 a.m. Purse.

Aug. 8

Veteran’s Park

Commercial Burglary. 6 p.m. Construction site at Second and Main streets. 200 feet of four-wire industrial extension cord.

Bel Aire Plaza

Commercial Burglary. 12:45 a.m. Construction site for Whole Foods. Three suspects caught, arrested as they were going to enter with empty back packs.

Second and Randolph streets

Auto theft. Time unavailable. 1998 BMW 328i.

Second Street    River Glen Drive

Auto theft. Time unavailable. 500 block. Inoperable 1993 Ford Aerostar van.

Aug. 10

Solano Avenue

Commercial Burglary. 2:30 a.m. 3300 block. Smashed window, Diamondback JH-2 mountain bike.

Aug. 11

Old Sonoma Road

Commercial Burglary. 2400 block. 8:30 a.m. Locks on container cut, damaged.

Aug. 12

South Freeway Drive

Residential Burglary. 700 block. 9 p.m. Garage and vehicle theft.

Silverado Trail

Residential Burglary. 400 block. 5:30 p.m. Door glass broken. Jewelry, knives, prescription drugs.

Adrian Street

Auto theft. 2600 block. Time unavailable. 1989 Honda Accord.

First Street

Auto theft. 2600 block. Time unavailable. 2004 Honda Civic.

First Street

Auto theft. 2600 block. Time unavailable. 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.

Stolen vehicles found in Napa

- La Homa Street. 1100 block. 1995 Honda Civic recovered by Vallejo PD.

- Roosevelt Street. 300 block. 1997 Ford Taurus. Recovered by owner at the library, 580 Coombs Street.

- Second and Randolph streets. East side of Mervyn’s. 1998 BMW 328i. Misplaced vehicle.

- Second Street. 2100 block. 1995 Honda Civic. Recovered by Napa CHP

- Trower Avenue. 1300 block. 2006 Honda Civic out of Sacramento.

Thefts from vehicles

- Ash Street. 1300 block. Stereo and wallet.

- Browns Valley Road. 3000 block.

- First Street. 2600 block. Attempted.

- Main Street. 1500 block. Cell phone, GPS, wallet and ID, sunglasses.

- Randolph Street. 600 block. CDs.

- Streblow Drive. 2200 block. Diamond, purse with ID and credit cards.

" It's sad you can't park and sit in your car anymore and just think without someone thinking you're "Casing" them out. I used to love to go to the back of the library and find old magazines in the toters, now they have cameras back there due to people dumping items in their dumpster. Napa has changed for the worse, and you can't blame others for wondering about the behavior of another "suspicious" person even though their intent is innocent. I won't be doing these things anymore. "

" Too bad the vandalism that it takes to get into a car is the real objective...the stolen items are just a perk. Report any suspicious activity--clearly this is a problem in Napa that is not going away. "

" What amazes me, most homes (not apartments) have garages but most of you chose to park on your driveway, why? Is your garage part of your ever-growing over consumption of material goods? Did you convert your garage into living space? No room to park the car? Now think of it this way, would you leave a $40,000 piece of jewelry out on your driveway? I don't think so, why leave your car and no less with more valuable in it? Put your valuables away where they belong, so the Napa Police and Sheriff Department can concentrate on more important crimes. Not on your personal items left outside for your neighbors to steal. "

" maybe what you should be asking yourself is why the contactors do not make a garage big enough to put two cars in. I own a van and my husband owns a truck but there is no way we can get both cars in the two car garage. Believe me I wish we could. "

I am very curious as to why this has been so secret in the past instead of enlisting the eyes of law abiding citizens? "
