4:30 p.m.SANTA ROSA — A 47-year-old Sonoma County man already awaiting sentencing in the theft of 100 cases of wine pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday after police said they found tens of thousands of dollars in stolen construction equipment in a storage unit on his property.

William Lawrence Browning was arrested Monday on suspicion of receiving stolen property and possessing and transporting methamphetamine for sale. He arrived home as investigators searching the unit uncovered the stolen gear and a truck reported missing by a Calistoga tree care company, Santa Rosa police said.
Browning pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Sonoma County Superior Court, where he was already awaiting sentencing after pleading no contest to two felony charges of stealing wine from a Santa Rosa distributor valued at more than $100,000.

He was facing a maximum sentence of four years, eight months in that case and was being held Thursday on $195,000 bail.
