Napa High School classrooms took a beating on Wednesday night from vandals who broke windows and helped themselves to items inside.

Napa Police investigators estimate about 25 windows were shattered in the H wing of the school, which houses the science, math and other classrooms. The damage has been estimated around $2,500. The vandalism was discovered by staff around 7 a.m. Thursday.
After breaking the windows, the vandals entered the interior of the building through an office. Once inside the hallway, they broke the windows of the classroom doors to gain entry to the rooms, police said.

The school reported several personal items missing, such as radios and cell phones, but no computers or other high-ticket items were taken or damaged, police said.
John Glaser, Napa Valley Unified School District superintendent, said they also found a small amount of graffiti.

“We are working hard to secure the building. I don’t know how long it will take to repair the damage, but it will be done before school opens next week. The major damage is the broken windows,” Glaser said.
Glaser said it is not unusual to find graffiti at the school. “We come across that frequently and remove it quickly. But this is the first time we have had vandalism of this magnitude.”

Glaser said the school has an alarm system.

As of this time, police do not have any suspects or witnesses. School resources officers are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Napa police dispatch at 253-4451.

" Mr. Gasser, I think this may have something to your Dress Code,it seems that the students know the alarm system business better than you! Why didn´t one of the 25 windows go off? Maybe its dummy rigged for a cheaper price? Make them liable for this, or were you in office when systems were installed? "

" This sort of thing happens from time to time. With technology getting cheaper, why is there no alarm system installed. I have a monitored alarm system on my home, why would we not have something similar on school buildings. It would certainly minimize damages and losses from these punks. "

" Just go to Napa High after 5:00 PM and see the hundred people using the field without permission or permits. They are drinking and harassing any of us white folk out there. The Napa POLICE need to do a nightly walk-thru. This town is in big trouble. "

" What a shame. Teachers spend a lot of their own hard-earned dollars to decorate their classrooms and provide realia to enhance learning. They and their students are the real victims here. Vandalism is a cowardly crime that cheats the innocent. Napa High has always had a good alarm system. Hope it's up and running again. "

" If one hundred people are drinking and harrassing white folks and the police is doing nothing about it then maybe you should start a neighborhood crime watch. "

" Maybe you should not take walks around Napa High after 5 pm. "

" I live not far from Napa High and frequent the track for walks and have never been harassed by anyone, have never seen anyone out there drinking in excess and I'm white, I'm female and find most of the people out there in the evening to be pretty friendly. Perhaps you should work on that chip on your shoulder. "
