Napa Humane’s fourth “Cause for the Paws” benefit is 1-5 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Grove at Silverado Resort in Napa.
Cause for the Paws features outstanding food and wine, live music by City Lights, and a live and silent auction of items like wines from Diamond Creek Vineyards, Dalla Valle Vineyards, Shafer Vineyards and Bond.
The Napa Humane Mobile Adoption Unit is on hand for the opportunity to meet adorable, adoptable animals.
Proceeds benefit Napa Humane’s “Find My Way Home” micro-chipping campaign.

Stave Wine Lounge, 1149 First St., presents artwork by John Lennart Roos in a show, “A Set of Series,” runs through Oct. 12.
The opening reception is 6-8 p.m. Aug. 4. Roos will talk about his work in acrylics, and complimentary light refreshments and wine will be served.
Steve Lawrence is the new national sales manager for Pahlmeyer and will work with the winery’s distributors and trade customers.
His experience includes positions at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Chalone Wine Group, Lockwood Vineyards and Clicquot Inc., and also has retail experience at Morrell & Company in New York and three wine merchants in London.
Bryan Del Bondio of Markham Vineyards and Robert Brittan of Brittan Family Vineyards have been elected to the board of directors of PS I Love You, an advocacy and promotional group of petite sirah producers.
Continuing on the board is Dave Pramuk, of Robert Biale Vineyards, who served as president of the organization for the past year.
PS I Love You is sponsoring a seminar in November to show the ageability of petite sirah.
“A State of Vine,” a documentary about the wine industry featuring a number of industry notables, is available online for $24.95.
The movie features appearances by Dan Baron of Silver Oak, Mario Andretti, wine publicist Harvey Posert and Fred Franzia, father of Two Buck Chuck.
The description of the DVD says it goes “from varietal to appellation, from character to character, always adding another nuance, an additional tone or temperament that is light hearted, yet as complex as the industry and the wine itself.”

Kendall-Jackson Winery has joined the wineries participating in the eighth Wine Salon in Concepción, Chile, Sept. 7-8. Among the other international wineries participating are Cuvelier Los Andes and Monteviejo, Noemia de Patagonia, and Freixenet, from Argentina; Argiano Brunello di Montalcino and Col d’Orcia from Italy; J&F Lurton and Miguel Torres from Spain.
Geared specifically toward vineyard land owners, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers presents “Current Topics for Vineyard Owners”, Aug. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Meadowood Napa Valley. Industry leaders and visionaries discuss the current trends in the vineyard business and how to successfully navigate the changes. Topics include property valuation, trademarking vineyards, successful estate plans and how to choose the right vineyard manager. Highlighted presentations include Andy Beckstoffer on the past, present and future of the Napa Valley Ag Preserve, Bill Harlan on the Future of Napa Valley and a panel of local experts will demystify what it means to be organic, sustainable, and Napa Green farmers.
