The Wine Country Film Festival continues this week in Napa opening with a culinary doubleheader at Frazier Winery Thursday night.

“Chef” is a short film about local boy Ken Frank of  La Toque Restaurant in Rutherford. Frank’s father moved his close-knit family to a small 16th century walled village on the French side of Lake Geneva in 1972. During the year’s sojourn, as an impressionable teenager, Frank discovered richly flavored country food, beginning his lifetime pursuit.
A cooking demonstration by Chef Frank follows the film.

Following “Chef” is the premiere of “No Reservations,” starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Aaron Eckhart, Abigail Breslin and Bob Balaban. The movie is a remake of the award-winning “Mostly Martha” about a master chef Kate Armstrong (Zeta-Jones) who lives her life like she runs her kitchen at a trendy Manhattan eatery — with a no-nonsense intensity that both captivates and intimidates everyone around her. Her perfectionist nature is put to the test when she “inherits” her 9-year-old niece Zoe (Breslin), while contending with a brash new sous-chef Nick Palmer (Eckhart) who joins her staff. High-spirited and freewheeling, Palmer couldn’t be more different from Kate, yet the chemistry between them is undeniable.
“No Reservations” features delicious dishes — and they won’t be just for your viewing pleasure. Some of the film’s favorite recipes, created by Food Network, include Classic Duck a L’Orange, Grilled Sea Bass, Scallop with Saffron Sauce and Tiramisu. These delectable delights are available for purchase at the Festival Café beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $20. “Chef” is shown at 7 p.m.; “No Reservations” at 8:45 p.m.
More films will be shown Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Frazier Winery and Copia. For a complete schedule visit www.winecountryfilmfest.org or call 935-3456.
