Artists from around the valley gathered last Friday to celebrate the opening of the new Artists of the Valley gallery on First Street in Napa.

The gallery is the exhibition space for members of the Napa Valley Artists Association, which includes painters, photographers and multi-media artists.
“We have a fantastic opportunity with this new exhibit space,” said Sherrell Harper, president of the association.

The gallery offers work in all paint media, plus photography, prints, calendars and greeting cards.
The gallery, at 710 First St., is in the heart of the emerging Oxbow district, near Copia, the farmers market and the new Oxbow Marketplace, which is scheduled to open in the fall.

The gallery opened with a show of 14 prominent local artists: Frank Kerr, Sherrell Harper, Skip Keyser, Eriberto Cruz, Bonnie Rosen, Peggy Piccolo, Greg Wright, Peter Langham, Mary Atman, Deborah Dean, Katherine Zimmer, Marlene Haas, Laurine Fuqua and Sharyn Danielson.
The new gallery is open Sunday through Monday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s also available for special events. For more information, call 254-2085 or visit www.nvart.org.
