Melinda Carmichael and Matt Swallow, both of Vallejo, are proud to announce their engagement at Matt's parents' home in Napa Christmas evening.

Melinda is the daughter of William (Rus) Shumard and the late Gladys A. Shumard of Vallejo.
Melinda is a customer service representative for Farmers Insurance Group of Vallejo. She is also self-employed as a certified massage therapist. She graduated from Armijo High in Fairfield and Solano Community College School of Cosmetology, Fairfield, and is a licensed cosmetologist.

Matt is the son of Stephen and Suzanne Swallow of Napa. He works for Anderson Audio Visual of Sacramento and is a graduate of Justin-Siena High School and Napa Valley College.
Matt and Melinda met about 14 years ago at the former Josey Wales Country Western Nightclub in Vallejo, and began their courtship in 2000. They enjoy dancing, singing and being with each other.

Their wedding is planned for Sept. 15 in Vallejo at the First United Methodist Church.
Matt and Melinda both reside in Vallejo and plan on making their home in Vallejo.
