Local man graduates from Naval Academy
U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Lt. James Kendrick Everett graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., on May 25 and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. Kendrick is the son of Wallace Kendrick Everett (formerly of St. Helena) and Marie Michele Furnary of Donnelly, Idaho, and grandson of Kathryn Steel Everett Brownell of Calistoga. He is the great-great-grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Washburn Everett, early ranchers in St. Helena.
Kendrick was awarded the Lieutenant General Herman Nickerson Jr. USMC Award, which is presented to the midshipman from the graduating class who has "exhibited the most outstanding leadership, integrity and potential as a future Marine officer."
Kendrick successfully completed four years of intensive academic, physical and professional training, resulting in a bachelor of science degree with a major in English.
Following graduation, he will report to Quantico, Va., where he will receive Marine Corps Basic Training before proceeding to Pensacola, Fla., to begin training as a Marine pilot. Kendrick is a 2002 graduate of the Thacher School in Ojai./Register
Pilot training done for Vintage grad
1st Lt. David M. Delmage graduated from 54 weeks of United States Air Force Undergraduate Specialized Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB on June 8. Lt. Delmage was a 2001 graduate of Vintage High School and graduated from Duke University in 2005 with a major in biomedical engineering. He was selected as a fighter pilot and will begin his graduate training on the F15C at Tyndall AFB in Florida in January./Register
