Napan wins Ronald McDonald House scholarship
Anastasia Novozhilova from Vintage High School was awarded a prestigious Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) scholarship in the amount of $1,000 by RMHC Bay Area due to her outstanding community involvement and educational excellence. Novozhilova was among the 150 students awarded with scholarships on May 30 at San Francisco City Hall./Register

2007 scholarship winners
The Napa Valley Art Association announced the recipients of its 2007 High School Scholarship Award program. Students winning NVAA scholarships include Erin Day, Napa High School; Brittany I. Zapor, Vintage High School; Peter Granados, New Technology High School; Cristina Garcia, Valley Oak High School; Danielle DiMercurio, St. Helena High School; Megan Yant, Calistoga High School; Rene Lopez, Napa Valley College.
Each student received $500.
"NVAA wants to help preserve the future of the visual arts," said Sherrell Harper, board president. "We don't want to miss the possibility of a new wonderful artist for lack of an arts education. It's our mission to assist local students in fulfilling their dreams."/Register
Local educator leads statewide association
Maren Rocca Hunt, principal of Canyon Oaks Elementary School in the Napa Valley Unified School District, was appointed a member of the Elementary Education Council for the Association of California School Administrators. As a member of this council, Hunt will help identify and study issues related to elementary and early primary administrators and to recommend practices and policies that will lead to high quality programs for elementary and early primary children.
In addition to her membership in ACSA, Hunt is also a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Kiwanis International and Soroptomist International. Hunt received her bachelor's degree in liberal arts from California State University, San Jose in 1985 and master's in instructional design from the University of Massachusetts, Boston in 1991.
The Association of California School Administrators has 23 committees and councils and represents more than 16,000 superintendents, principals, vice principals, classified managers and confidential employees throughout the state. It is a member-driven organization committed to improved student performance and educational leadership in California's public schools./Register
