Artist-apiarist and Napa resident Rob Keller is one of the 15 artists receiving a grant from the Creative Work Fund, a program from the Walter and Elise Haas Fund to support new art works and local artists. The fund is giving grants totaling $472,000 to visual and traditional Bay Area artists creating new works through collaborations with local nonprofits.

Keller received his grant for his work with Nimbus Arts to address the plight of the honeybee population and the ways humans can change agricultural practices to protect honeybees. Keller is collaborating with Nimbus Arts to create the Enormous Mobile Vintage Trailer Observatory (EMoViTO), an observation beehive. Keller and his collaborators are retrofitting a classic 1955 aluminum travel trailer with interior Plexiglas hive bodies and equipping it with multi-media educational materials.
John Kornfeld’s “Our World and Others” opens at in the Vineyard Room at Robert Mondavi Winery Sunday. A native of Boston, Kornfeld’s interest in art began when he enrolled in a sculpting class at the Boston Museum. Kornfeld’s early interest in art was overshadowed by a successful career as a classical music promoter. He maintained a studio throughout his impresario days and shifted his artistic side from sculpture to painting after moving to Palm Springs.

“Our World and Others” is a collection of paintings expressing Kornfeld’s exploration of earthly landscapes and constellations of space — like painting “Birth of Andromeda,” his imagining of the birth of the cosmos.
“Our World and Others” is on display through Sept. 6. Robert Mondavi Winery is on the west side of Highway 29, just north of Oakville Cross Road. It’s open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The works on display in the Napa City-County Library this month are from members of the National League of American Pen Women, Golden Gate-Marin Branch. The show will be up through June 30.
