Napa Track Club tallies 27 medals

In their final tune-up before next weekend’s initial round of qualifying for the National Junior Olympics, athletes from Napa Track Club traveled to Livermore on Saturday to attend the Pacific Association Field Event Championships.
Club members have turned in strong performances in the jumps and throws all season, and this meet was no exception. The 13 local participants hauled in a total of 27 medals and set several new personal records.

Kevin Cardey and MacKenzie Mills captured gold medals the long jump and the high jump in the Intermediate Boys and Midget Girls divisions, respectively.
Erin Mills, competing in the high jump for the first time, took home gold in the Bantam Girls division with a jump of 3 feet. She also added silver medals with PRs in the turbo javelin (54 feet, 4 inches) and long jump (8-3).

In the Midget Boys group, Brendan Cardey and Chris Bozzini each collected a complete set of medals. Cardey earned gold in the turbo, silver in the long jump, and bronze in the high jump, while Bozzini took gold in the long jump, silver in the high jump, and bronze in the turbo, with a PR of 96 feet in the latter.
Claire Miller (Midget Girls) claimed gold in the turbo with a new PR of 83-2, and silver in the high jump. Jennifer Cardey (Youth Girls) earned gold in the triple jump and silver in the long jump, while her twin sister Lauren garnered silver in the high jump and bronze in the long jump.

Dominic Giovannoni took home gold in the Young Men’s division of the high jump and added a bronze medal in the triple jump. Mario Giovannoni (Intermediate Boys) captured silver in the high jump and bronze in the triple jump competition.

Eric Zoller earned gold in the Youth Boys with a PR in the long jump (15-111⁄2), Megan Zoller snagged gold in the Intermediate Girls high jump, and Anthony Zoller who took home silver in the Intermediate Boys triple jump.

The club returns to Livermore Friday through Sunday for the Pacific Association Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships.
