The Missoula Children’s Theater presents a fresh look at an age-old favorite on June 16 when more than 60 local students present “The Amazing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe” at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Napa Valley Opera House. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children.

After a week-long residency, students will take on the roles of Robinson Crusoe, Wilson (his sole companion) and Leonard the leopard. Numerous additional characters will be cast, including Friday’s family, the band leader Oscar the Octopus and the Oscar Octopus Octet band members. Cast members are also needed to play the roles of the family of goats, the very hairy, very scary, Frowny-Face Tribe and the colorful Chameleons.  The staff will also cast Assistant Directors to help with the technical aspects of the production throughout the week.
Auditions will be held for the  Missoula Children’s Theater original adaptation of “The Amazing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe” on Monday at the Napa Valley Opera House Café Theatre, 1030 Main St., Napa. Students who have completed kindergarten to those entering the 12th grade are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Auditioning students should arrive at 10 a.m. and plan to stay for two hours. Some of those selected as cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

The Missoula Children's Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The  directors  will conduct rehearsals throughout the week of June 11-16 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. Those who audition should be available for the week of rehearsals, and for both performances on June 16 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Participants selected pay a $75 workshop fee at the time of selection. A limited number of scholarships are available. For information contact evy@nvoh.org.
