Harrison Bell

Justin-Siena senior C
Bell hit .357 with a home run for the Braves this season as the team’s defensive backstop. He also posted a .971 fielding percentage and committed just four errors.

Daniel Castillo
Justin-Siena junior P/INF

The versatile Castillo hit .270 and was one of the Braves’ top pitchers when he wasn’t playing in the field. Castillo posted a 3-6 record with a 2.95 earned-run average, fanning 51 batters while walking just 17.
His importance to the club was proven when coach Scott Wright picked Castillo to start the Braves’ section title game against Salesian.

Ziggy Gutierrez

Calistoga senior SS-P

Gutierrez was one of the young Calistoga club’s best players on the mound or in the field. He was also a rare southpaw shortstop.

He posted a .361 batting average to go along with 25 stolen bases. Gutierrez also powered 2 home runs, including a grand slam in a win over Point Arena.

Jake Holguin

St. Helena senior SS

The athletic Saints star batted .311 this season, primarily in the leadoff spot, and was a thorn to opposing defenses by swiping 25 bases.

Luke Kersting

Trinity Prep senior P/C/INF

Kersting went 19-for-40 at the plate in league play for the Crusaders, a blistering .475 average. Of Kersting’s 19 hits, 10 went for extra bases, including a home run.

On the mound, Kersting posted a W-L record of 7-4 and was the winning pitcher in the Crusaders’ last four games.

He also tossed a no-hitter on May 1 against Bradshaw Christian.

Kersting was named First-Team All-Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League.

Jordan Long

Vintage senior OF

Long led the Crushers in hitting overall (.355) and in league play (.326), but more importantly he was the team captain on and off the field.

“He is a tireless worker and was the heart and soul of the whole program. He epitomizes what high school athletics are all about. Most importantly, he conducts himself in a way that would make any parent proud,” said Crushers coach Rich Anderson.

Long also led the Crushers in hits (27), RBIs (17) and stolen bases (10).

Long was named All-MEL this season.

Mike Santora

Napa junior 3B/2B

Santora spent his second varsity season “developing into one of the most versatile players I have coached,” said Indians coach Todd Pridy.

Santora, who made the All-MEL squad, batted .273 overall but hiked his average up to .417 in league play. He drove in 15 runners on the year and added a home run.

Tony Smaldino

Justin-Siena junior INF

Smaldino played a solid third base for the Braves’ section finalists and also batted .386 on the season.

Smaldino smashed 2 home runs and drove in 12 runs.

Jason Westerberg

Napa senior P-1B

Westerberg went 6-2 on the mound for the Indians this season with a 2.40 ERA. He was

5-1 in MEL play with a 2.76 ERA as an All-MEL hurler.

“Jason always wanted the ball and threw some of our most important games of the year,” said Indians coach Todd Pridy.

Westerberg threw scoreless ball in six different appearances for Napa this spring.

At the plate, Westerberg batted .262 overall and powered a home run.
