On Pope Creek Bridge closure
“I can see the point to shut it down, in the interests of public safety. Each major summer holiday, the same negative behavior leading to death and injury occur.”

“Yes, the party bridge is a wild scene ... but doesn’t it seem that the ones who engage in the disruptive activities there will only find somewhere else to do it? Seems to me that the Bureau of Reclamation and Napa County Sheriff just want to shuffle this problem off onto someone else.”
“This is just another tactic that the Bureau is using to shut down the lake. Don’t buy it for a second.”

“The lake is a public lake, and the public should be allowed to use any and all of it. People are going to party or whatever anyway, they’ll just find a different part of the lake to do it in. So now, instead of having a group where they can be watched and somewhat controlled, now they will be scattered about.”
“Closing off the whole cove is ridiculous, just have more police present.”

“It boils down to the almighty dollar, and the police aren’t generating enough revenue through arrests and citations to justify their almost military-like presence on these weekends.”

“A bunch of out-of-control teenagers are the direct cause of this. Break up their party just as if it were on land. Arrest them for drunk in public and disorderly conduct, don’t ruin the holidays for the rest of us.”

On Redwood dress code case

“It’s a shame that this is even going forward. The money could be spent on the school district for books, sports, music and trips, but some would rather see a lawyer drive a fancy car. Where are our values?”

“The school district is wasting a lot of time and money on a small matter? And why do you think they are? Because of the ridiculous lawsuit filed by the ACLU. Don’t blame the district, blame the lawyers who want to sue about the right to wear Tigger socks. What a waste.”

“I support the ACLU. They protect the individual’s rights when they are threatened by larger, stronger organizations, including the government, businesses and school districts. The school district is wasting a lot of time and energy on a small matter. They have many more important issues facing them.”

“The money doesn’t have to be spent on lawyers. All the school district has to do is change the dress code. It’s going to be one very expensive dress code. Is it worth it?”

On AmCan Wal-Mart ruling

“Finally! I’m glad to hear it’s finally moving forward.”

“This is a sad day for A.C. ... No wonder small guys like Vallerga’s and mom and pop stores are being killed. Nobody cares. Where are our values? Another place to shop is not the answer.”

“AC is a nice community ... Wal-Mart is not the end of the world, as some of you would like us to believe.”

“If you don’t like it, don’t shop there.”

“Who doesn’t want to pay low prices?  ... It’s not about who thinks theyre too good for Wal-Mart. It’s about the affect of Wal-Mart on the community.”
