Orchid Society meeting

The Napa Valley Orchid Society holds its monthly meeting Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Napa Senior Activity Center, 1500 Jefferson St., Napa.
The guest speaker is past president Pauline Brault, who now lives on the Big Island of Hawaii, where she grows cattleyas, dendrobiums and orchid species.

She will present a hands-on teaching program for beginners and advanced orchid growers and cover subjects like how to encourage new root growth on plants that have lost their roots; emergency repotting, choosing the correct pot size and how to divide a plant.

Bring problem plants, and Brault will give as much advice on them as time permits.

Brault now serves as president of the Hilo Orchid Society. She is also an artist who paints Hawaiian seascapes and tropical plants in a tropical style./Register
