Tickets are $95 ($75 for Wine Club members), for 21 and over only, and can be purchased at www.matanzascreek.com or 1-800-590-6464. Advance ticket purchase is required. This event typically sells out, so buy your tickets early.
Matazanas Creek is in the Bennett Valley appellation in Sonoma County. Originally planted in 1991, the lavender garden contains more than 4,500 lavender plants, which produce 2 million stems of lavender a year of Provence and Grosso lavender species. Provence, milder in aroma with sweeter more herbaceous flavors, is grown for culinary use. The spicier, more robust flavor of Grosso is better suited for home, bath and medicinal uses.

The lavender program at Matanzas Creek Winery is led by Patricia Kaczmarek. Adela Haro, a 13-year lavender production veteran who hand crafts lavender bath, body and home products that are also available on the winery Web site.
Matanzas Creek Winery is at 6097 Bennett Valley Road in Santa Rosa. Info, www.matanzascreek.com or 1 (800) 590-6464./Register
