Students finishing the spring semester program at the Oxbow School in Napa will be on hand at an open house Friday and Saturday, 1-3 p.m., to show their projects, which represent the culmination of their studies. Each has created a major artwork exploring topics they’ve chosen in the arts and humanities — and it’s always one of the best art shows that takes place in Napa. The Oxbow School is at 530 Third St., Napa, across from the entrance to the Napa Valley Expo.
Also taking place this weekend is La Strada Dell’Arte Napa Valley, a street painting festival at presented by the New Technology Foundation. Based on a 16th century Italian tradition, it will bring together more than 200 artists, who’ll be creating their masterpieces in chalk on the grounds of Copia. Music, wine, food and entertainment will be part of event; and there is a special children’s section. There is no admission to watch the artists at work. They’ll be there Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bel Aire Park Elementary School’s Annual Art Fair is May 23, 5-9 p.m. A fundraiser for the school’s “Meet the Masters” Visiting Artists Program, it features an art gallery, refreshments, a silent auction and raffle. The free event is at the school, 3580 Beckworth Drive, Napa. Info, Tere at 253-7820.
