Napa Police officers are searching for the two men responsible for a strong-arm robbery that occurred Friday night.

The two men ran up behind a 36-year-old woman at 9:35 p.m., at Bel Aire Plaza and snatched her purse, according to police reports. During their getaway, the two men knocked the woman down and ran toward the area of El Capitan Way. Police arrived at the scene shortly after, but were unable to locate the two robbers, the report said.
Police issued a limited description of the suspects describing them as white males, wearing black-hooded sweatshirts at the time of the robbery.

Skate park,
not ball park

A Napa man found out Friday night that the Napa Skate Park on Pearl Street is not a good place to wield a baseball bat.
Napa Police responded to the park Friday night in response to a call they received about a brawl involving a bat. When officers arrived on the scene they observed Joel Vasquez, 23, running from the park with a baseball bat in his hand, according to police reports. Vasquez allegedly ignored the officers' commands to stop and drop the bat and officers took him into custody, the report said.

Vasquez was intoxicated at the time of his arrest. No victims of the fight were located at the scene. Police arrested Vasquez on suspicion of violation of probation, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Domestic violence arrests

Napa Police were busy Friday dealing with two separate incidents of domestic violence.

The first happened 3 p.m., at a store on the 2000 block of Solano Ave. Police reports show that Benigno Gaytan Ramirez, 34, of Petaluma, and his wife began arguing and Ramirez grabbed her by her throat, causing redness. She attempted to call police with her cell phone, and Ramirez took the cell phone away.

She then attempted to call police using the store's phone, but Ramirez unplugged it, the report said. Ramirez left before police arrived, but officers caught up with him at the office of his attorney in Napa. Officers arrested Ramirez on suspicion of domestic violence and tampering with a phone line.

In a separate incident at a residence on the 2000 block of Kathleen Drive, police say that Armando Hugo Bustos, 26, arrived at the home at 8:30 p.m., and slapped his wife. Police responded to the scene and arrested Bustos on suspicion of domestic battery.

" Another good example why the Bel-Aire shopping center should be closed off from the neighborhoods...its a great place for the purse snatchers and strong arm robbers to flee the police with the lack of security presence. "
