Police are looking for the men believed to be involved in the attack of a 13-year-old boy in the 500 block of First Street as he was walking home.

The assault happened around 5 p.m., Friday. Police are looking into the possibility the attack could be gang related.
The victim told police a black Lincoln Town Car stopped in front of him, and four men dressed in blue clothing got out and chased him, police said.

The boy tripped and fell to the ground, where he was repeatedly kicked and punched by the men, police said.
The four men left in the Lincoln. The boy walked to a family member’s house where he reported the assault.

No arrests have been made.

" What circumstances lead to GANG RELATED being included in a piece? Is it sexy, compelling? "

" It was reported that this happened at 5pm? Still light out. And First Street has enough traffic that SOMEONE must have witnessed this. "

Tough Guys wrote on May 8, 2007 8:52 AM:

" So it takes 4 men to beat up a 13 year boy? Wow. You "gang members" must be real tough. 4 against 1. hmm...No wonder the poor kid got beat up. "

" sad to see that we can no longer trust our neighborhoods. Our children are no longer safe outside our own homes. what is this world coming to? The city needs to do something about all this violence. THis 4 men need to realize that this kid is only a baby, and they may have babies of their own. Remember what goes around comes around. "

" Open your eyes and get connected....Gangs are in Napa. Hey lets cut youth services that will get rid of the gangs...... "

Joanne wrote on May 8, 2007 9:33 AM:

" Geeze, it's hard to decide whether I hope its gang related or not gang related and just a carfull of thugs beating up on a random young boy. I have teens that walk to work, walk to school..... respectable, responsible teens. It seems that our streets are more unsafe than ever. I hate to take my kids freedom away from them by insisting I drive them everywhere, but it seems like I am going to have to do that so I can help keep them safe. I hope the Register keeps us informed "

Another location wrote on May 8, 2007 10:29 AM:

" So, if this is really gang related, then does it really take Napa Gangs 4 men to harm a child? I'd like to see how long these 4 men would last in a place like East Oakland or Richmond. That might show the world how tough they really are. "

sorry wrote on May 8, 2007 11:05 AM:

" if Richmond is what we want then we will get it if law abiding citizens don't step up and give information to our Police Officers to help apprehend the criminals. when that message gets out the thugs will go somewhere else. "

" Well, I can sure let you know that the fault does not lie with the KIDS. My God, dude! It says the KID was beat up by grown men! Get a clue. "

AmCan Mom wrote on May 8, 2007 12:41 PM:

" I am in NO WAY trying to make excuses for the "men" (how un-manlike can you get?) beating up on a kid, but please remember how many 13 year olds there are in Juvenile Hall who have done things that justify being locked away. Also remember that being 13 doesn't mean this kid was small. Being a former teacher I have known 13 year old boys who were 6 feet tall and 180 pounds! Also...these "men" could be boys themselves. Just because someone is 18 does not make them a man, and we have no idea how old they were. This is yet another example of the Register only giving some of the facts in their reporting. Again, I am not making excuses for those men, but think about it. This does not seem like a random act, more like retribution for something. "

" This boy is my cousin. It is very sad what happened to him. I'm with Sadnapan on this. We can't even trust our community. It was broad daylight and nobody stopped to help. My cousin said he saw a white van drive by slowing. That person in the van should have wrote down a license plate number off the car. I hope somebody comes forward with more information to help my cousin. "

" Napa is nowhere close to as bad as Richmond or Oakland. We never have homicides, and when we do they aren't gang related. We live in a very safe town, but every town has gangs. Nortenos and Surenos are the problem, but if you arent in either gang you have nothing to worry about. They arent worried about other people. This is gang violence, they dont harm random people. Quit acting like Napa is becoming a horrible place to live. Some kids are just being stupid and people get in fights once in while. Just be happy that someone you know isnt being shot to death every other day like in Richmond and Oakland. This is being completely blown out of proportion. "

Open your eyes Napa! wrote on May 8, 2007 4:13 PM:

" Napa is not as safe as many of you think. There are many crimes covered up so the media won't report on them, which might scare away the tourists, as that is what Napa relys on, (Tourist Dollars) This has been going on for many years!!!, since the 70's at least! "

Get REAL! wrote on May 8, 2007 4:23 PM:

" You people! Do I really live and work with you in this town? Do you have any CLUE at all? I used to live and work in Sacramento with a homicide rate of 113+ a year! It's terrible what happened to the young man and anyone with a lick of sense would have stopped to get the license plate of the car and a description of the men and call the police. But get real. Napa is hardly Richmond or Oakland. You people are just crazy to write that kind of nonsense. Get out of your bubble. "

Napan wrote on May 8, 2007 6:40 PM:

" I can't belive that people are blinded to beliveing gangs exisist in Napa, my kids are in College now and are out of the scene but while they were going through high school( this is 2 years ago ) gangs were present. Actually if you take the time to sit down with your kids and communicate with them I am sure they can tell you all about it and the difference between them.....Those who belive they dont exist eithor have no children in teen years or are the parents who say " my son would never do that " "

The City is out of touch wrote on May 9, 2007 12:00 AM:

" In Santa Rosa kids are nearly killed for wearing red or blue WITHOUT gang affilitation ...The city needs to do something about all this violence? Yea, sure the city is cutting our Police Dept.that's their best plan. To Please,be accurate we do have murders right here in River City. Murders were rare in the 70's but those days are long gone folks. "

Please wrote on May 11, 2007 1:59 AM:

" This City is out of touch, what are you talking about? You say that we have murders in River City. So we have murders in a restaurant/bar? LOL. There have been two murders this year. Some 50 year old guy got stabbed on the street for who knows what and a young man killed and older man. That is all we have had. Im assuming you were talking about Riverside? Well there arent murders there either, so I have no idea what you're talking about. Napa is practically one of the safest places in the US to live. "

friend wrote on May 11, 2007 1:17 PM:

" To Please - How can you say Napa is one of the safes places to live. Read Fridays newspaper. There was a Drive by shooting. Luckliy no one was hurt. Napa is not safe. "

Please wrote on May 12, 2007 7:20 PM:

" To friend. Oh no, Napa's first drive by shooting in history. What are we gonna do? Happens everyday in a lot of cities. You people are so sheltered and out of touch with the real world that its funny to me. "

JR wrote on May 14, 2007 9:39 AM:

" 1st drive by in napa history? ha ha where have you been living? there have been tons of drive bys, a guy got killed a while back from a drive by on brown street. Napa is NOT the safest place to live. There are tons of violence on the streets. About 1% of the violence actually makes it to the paper. You all live in a cloud of ignorance. "
