Napa High School’s highly entertaining production of Noel Coward’s farce “Rumors” continues this week with performances Thursday at 7 p.m. and Friday at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $8 general and $5 for students and sold at the door of the Little Theater half an hour before the show.
The program notes that this will be the final Napa High production for seniors Sarah Bockhold, Maggie Crane, Kate Devine, Ariel Jackson, Cory Jorgensen, Derek O’Reilly, Leah Reisman, Lisa Rios, Lindsay Stoltz, Lauren Turigliatto and Afton Younger.

“‘Rumors’ is lovingly dedicated to these wonderful young people,” the program read, “May their stars continue to shine.”
The cast also includes Chris Henderson, Cristhian Ayvar and Steven Orloff. Lisa Hopp and Chelsea Schuman are stage managers for the show, with Lauren Hubbard working backstage and Madison Crosby in charge of sound. Nick Curtis and Ken Boyd built the set.

The Napa High band and orchestra students returned last week from an eventful and busy trip to New York City, the highlights of which included tours of Ground Zero, Radio City and a cruise down the Hudson River. They attended a performance of the Philharmonic and “The Lion King” and an  taping of the CBS early morning show. Some parents reported seeing their students on television waving signs, most prominent of which were greetings to Mrs. Hatton, a Napa High English teacher.
The reason for the trip, however, was to perform at the National Freedom Festival, held at Staten Island College, and, as always, they came away with medals and honors,   first and second place awards for the band, orchestra, jazz band, drumline and flag performers.

Most remarkable of all however, was that when the students  returned, there was Harry Cadelago, director of the band and orchestra, unloading instruments at 2 a.m. Tuesday — and still smiling. Asked if he was delirious, the remarkable Mr. C. said, actually the reason he was smiling was,  “we flew to New York in two groups and returned in two groups, leaving from two airports, and everything came back — even the students.

“The kids were great,” he added, and so were the chaperones.
