As one gets older, or at least more experienced, one is less and less inclined to take pleasure -- vicarious or otherwise -- in the misfortunes of others. Certain exceptions can be made, as in the case of ax murderers, serial rapists and anyone who has consistently and repeatedly voted for or in favor of the current administration.
