What's up Napa Valley: Castello di Amorosa opens in Calistoga

After 14 years of construction and more than $30 million, Daryl Sattui’s dream, Castello di Amorosa winery, is open for tours and tasting in Calistoga by appointment.

A tasting fee of $10 is charged ($20 when reserve wines are included).
Guided tours of the eight-level, 107-room castle for adults are by appointment only. Tour and tastings take more than an hour and include a barrel tasting.

County residents pay half price under the Napa Valley Vintners’ Napa Neighbors program before 11:30 a.m.

The winery is at 4045 North St. Helena Highway in Calistoga.
   

Giovannoni’s Market becomes La Tapatia

The old Giovannoni’s Market on Oak and Brown streets in Old Town is now La Tapatia Market.

It’s open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and features many Mexican products and all the items you’d expect at an independent supermarket.

It also has a large butcher section and a deli.

Owners Ignacio and Ismael Magallanes have a similar market in Vallejo.

Ahead of the Curve: Explore wine trends

On Thursday, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers presents a new annual seminar for the winegrape industry, “Ahead of the Curve.”

It will be held at Copia in Napa, 7:30 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $75 for NVG members and $115 for others.

Other upcoming NVG seminars include the second Forum on Genetically Modified Organisms in the Wine Industry on June 20 at Copia, the Organic Winegrowing Conference on July 18-19 at Frog’s Leap Winery and the Napa Valley Winegrape Expo on Oct. 30 at Copia.

The American Denim Company is having a spring fashion show Saturday at 7 p.m. It will feature locally designed fashions and wines plus hors d’oeuvres.
