Katie McNamara and John Thompson of Napa announce their engagement to be married on Aug. 25 in Yountville.

Katie is the daughter of Bill and Sharon McNamara (stepmother) and Donna McNamara (mother), all of Petaluma. She is the granddaughter of Gertie McNamara of Napa. Katie attended Casa Grande High School and is employed by Nordstrom in Sacramento.

John is the son of Ward and Barbara Thompson of Napa and the grandson of Margaret Whitmer of Napa. He attended Vintage High School and is self-employed as a general building contractor in Napa.
