8 p.m. Both Napa-city schools started the 23rd Annual Easter Softball Tournament with a bang Thursday afternoon.

Napa beat Vallejo 5-1 while Vintage crushed Golden Sierra 10-0 in four innings.
The Indians (12-2 overall) scored two runs in the first inning from Alex Robben and JJ Wagoner and could have stopped there. But after giving up an Apache run in the fourth inning, Napa fired back with another Robben run in the fifth. Robben scored a third time in the top of the seventh while Wagoner touched home a second time.

Robben led Napa with a 3-for-4 performance while winning pitcher Mackenzey Bard was 2-for-3. From the circle, Bard allowed four hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts.
Vintage (11-3 overall) powered through the third inning to score eight runs off six hits and four walks. Jessica Clark led the Crushers with two singles and a double while Ashley Howatt chipped in a single and double. Clark and Jessica Zeller scored twice each.

Amber Daly went the distance and allowed just one hit — a single in the bottom of the fourth inning. Daly didn’t walk anyone and struck three batters out.
Napa plays Vanden and Bethel at 10 and 11:45 a.m. respectively on Friday while Vintage will face Vallejo and Vanden at 1:30  and 5 p.m. All games will be held at Kennedy Park.
